Material selection of hydraulic cylinder

The material of hydraulic cylinder can be selected according to the pressure of working medium and the size of working cylinder. The selection range is very wide. For low-pressure and small-size hydraulic cylinders, gray cast iron can be used, which is commonly used between HT200 and HT350. If the requirements are higher, nodular cast iron QT450-10, QT500-7 and QT600-3 can be used. Cast steel can be used for higher requirements, such as ZG230-450, ZG270-500, ZG310-570, etc. For large and medium forging hydraulic presses, 35 or 40 forged steel is commonly used, and sometimes low alloy steel such as 20MnMo is used to manufacture hydraulic cylinders. In some large-tonnage forging or die forging hydraulic presses, the material of hydraulic cylinders is sometimes 18MnMoNb alloy steel, which is directly forged into the blank of hydraulic cylinders with large steel ingots.


Small-sized hydraulic cylinders also use seamless steel tubes as bad materials, with small machining allowance, good technological performance and short production preparation period, which is suitable for large-scale production.

The material of standard hydraulic cylinder steel pipe is carbon steel for mechanical construction, marked STKM13C. After seamless cold drawing on the surface and high-precision cross boring on the inner diameter, the inner diameter tolerance is H7~H9, the surface roughness is 0. 8~3. 0S, and the tensile strength is above 5. 2MPa.
