(1) The function of the cylinder

Cylinder is a commonly used power component in mechanical equipment, which converts the pressure energy of compressed air into mechanical energy, and drives the mechanism to achieve reciprocating linear motion, swing or rotary motion.

(2)Types, characteristics, and uses of commonly used cylinders

01 Pen shaped cylinder

Pen shaped cylinder, also known as mini cylinder (or micro cylinder, micro cylinder), is made of stainless steel and aluminum alloy;

The characteristics of a mini cylinder are: low price, compact structure, beautiful appearance, fixed front and rear threads, which can effectively save installation space, suitable for high-frequency usage requirements, and applied in industries such as electronics, medical, packaging machinery, etc.

Precautions for use:

Magnetic switch installation brackets are required, and the installation methods for magnetic switches are divided into steel strip installation and track installation.

To connect the cylinder piston rod and moving parts through a floating joint, make the movement of the moving parts smooth and stable, and prevent jamming.

It is best to leave margin for the selection of cylinder stroke.

02 Thin cylinder

Characteristics of thin cylinder:

The advantages of compact structure, light weight, and small space occupation

The cylinder block is square and can be directly installed on various fixtures and specialized equipment without the need for accessories;

The cylinder output connecting rod is divided into inner tooth and outer tooth types;

It needs to be used in conjunction with guiding elements.

03 Free installation cylinder

Features of the freely installed cylinder:

Short stroke, rectangular cylinder body;

The cylinder output connecting rod is divided into inner tooth and outer tooth types;

The cylinder can be fixed from four directions of the body and can be installed in various ways.

04 Dual axis cylinder

A dual axis cylinder is a type of cylinder that connects two single rod thin cylinders in parallel. The characteristics of a dual axis cylinder are:

Embedded body installation and fixation form, saving installation space;

Has certain guidance, bending and torsion resistance, and can withstand certain lateral loads;

The front anti-collision pad of the body can adjust the stroke of the cylinder and alleviate impact, which is greater than the output of a single axle cylinder.

05 Guide rod cylinder

The guide rod cylinder is divided into linear bearing type and copper sleeve type. The linear bearing type is suitable for pushing action and low friction sports, while the copper sleeve type is suitable for radial load and high load situations.

The characteristics of the guide rod cylinder are: compact structure, effective in saving installation space, built-in guidance function, able to withstand a certain amount of lateral load, and various installation methods. Can be used for blocking, feeding, pushing, stamping, clamping and other occasions.

06 Sliding table cylinder

The slide cylinder adopts a cross ball guide rail for guidance, with low friction and can achieve smooth movement without looseness.

Characteristics of the slide cylinder:

Compact structure, saving installation space;

High guidance accuracy, torque resistance, and strong load capacity;

The price is relatively expensive.

07 rodless cylinder

A rodless air rod does not have the rigid piston rod of a regular cylinder, but utilizes the piston to directly or indirectly achieve reciprocating motion. It can be divided into mechanical coupling and magnetic coupling. The biggest advantage of this type of cylinder is that it saves installation space and is particularly suitable for situations with small cylinder diameters and long strokes.

Precautions for use:

The middle slider cannot be fixed for use, and must be used to fix the front and rear seats at both ends.

Avoid direct force on the cylinder, causing the cylinder tube to bend, and finally use a floating link.

08 Air Claw

The pneumatic gripper is a key component of modern pneumatic robotic arms that can achieve various grasping functions.

It is divided into: parallel air claw, swinging air claw, rotating air claw, three-point air claw, and four-point air claw.

The characteristics of this cylinder are:

All functions are double acting, capable of achieving bidirectional grasping, automatic centering, and high repetition accuracy;

The gripping torque is constant.

09 swinging cylinder

The swinging cylinder is divided into two types: gear rack type and blade type, with the gear rack type being more commonly used for object rotation, flipping, classification, etc.

10 rotating down pressure cylinder

The rotating compression cylinder achieves the function of rotating compression, and the rotation direction is divided into left and right. It is usually used for compact structures to achieve rotating compression action.
